Maple Date Bark

Sweeten up your Halloween with a healthier twist! This Maple Date Bark combines creamy nut butter, rich maple sweetness, and a chocolatey crunch for the perfect treat – no tricks needed! Made with whole, natural ingredients, it’s a wholesome alternative to traditional candy that still satisfies your sweet tooth.

Yield: 12 servings

Prep time: 20 minutes

Total time: 40 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 8-10 dates, halved and pitted
  • 1/4 cup nut butter (like almond or cashew butter)
  • 2 tbsp maple butter
  • 1/4 cup melted chocolate (dark or semi-sweet)
  • 1 tsp coconut oil

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Dates: Slice the dates in half lengthwise and remove the pits. Line a small baking sheet or plate with parchment paper, and arrange the halved dates in a single layer.
  2. Add Nut Butter: Using a spoon or small knife, spread a layer of nut butter over each date half.
  3. Drizzle Maple Butter: Drizzle maple butter over the nut-butter-filled dates for a sweet, rich flavor. Place the dates in the freezer for about 10 minutes to firm up.
  4. Melt Chocolate and Coconut Oil: In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate and coconut oil. Microwave in 15-second intervals, stirring between each interval, until fully melted and smooth. Alternatively, melt the mixture on the stove over low heat.
  5. Coat Dates: Remove the dates from the freezer and drizzle melted chocolate mixture. Top with pumpkin seeds or desired toppings.
  6. Chill and Set: Return the dates to the freezer for another 15-20 minutes, or until the chocolate has hardened.
  7. Serve: Break the bark into pieces or keep the dates whole. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer for a quick, nutrient-packed snack.
